DESTINED TO TRAVEL - Travel to Exciting, Exotic, and Adventurous Destinations!

This issue spotlights some of my past trips as well as some of the Friends, Relatives, Past and Current Travelers who have helped grow my business as well as provide me with tons of fun. All photos are taken by Kay, unless otherwise noted (except the ones where Kay is pictured).

CORRECTION:
There was an error in the date for the New Zealand trip in the previous issue.  The date should have been February 2011, not 2010. However, that also has changed somewhat, to a New Zealand/Australia trip.  Don't forget to sign up for that. So for everyone who ever thought of New Zealand as a destination to visit, now is the time to pony up.  Looking for a group of minimum of 10 travelers.  See flyer below.

There is lots of exciting news to share.

Would you be surprised to know that even though I'm called SafariKay, I do travel to more places in the world than Africa. Travel is my passion, Africa is my speciality, and is the most diverse travel experience I have found, but I also escort groups to many other places in the world, as you will see. Remember a safari means journey, and not necessarily to Africa, although that is really how it is associated these days.  But here are some other 'safari's' that I have been on.

GEOGRAPHY - DO YOU KNOW WHERE THESE LOCALES ARE?

PAST TRIPS AND QUIPS

Even I was amazed at the beautiful fall colors.  I certainly don't recall seeing anything like this when I lived in Chicago.  It was a fabulous trip with a group of six magnificent women.  Add me to the mix and everywhere we went we became known as The Magnificent Seven.  We certainly lived up to our name.  Is this something you might want to do, call me and let me book your trip for a Fall Foliage tour.  This tour: TAUCK Classic New England, is one I highly recommend.

CARTOON CHARACTER OR???

Sure looks like it, doesn't it, with those red-orange feet and those big red button eyes.  It's really a Red Legged Tree Frog and it was taken inCosta Rica, another one of the fabulous trips, this time with the magnificent six.  Put Costa Rica on YOUR travel list.

    CHRIST THE REDEEMER
CORCOVADO HILL

You guessed it, if you guessed RIO .  That's right. it's Rio de Janiero, Brazil. Six ladies traveled with me on this trip.  It was exciting and fascinating visiting the beach area of Florianopolis, Ipanema Beach, and Iguaçu Falls.  The power of those Falls can still be heard.  Put this one on your agenda and don't forget to call me.

THE GREAT WALL

That's right, it's in Beijing, China. Another great trip, with a group of sixteen.  Where were you? This trip took us to Beijing, Xian to see the Terra Cotta soldiers, Guilin, and Shanghai.  What an adventure safari that was.  Maybe you've never thought of China as a destination, but it is a fantastic educational journey.

THE LONG NECK TRIBE
were driven out of Burma (now Myanmar) and have settled in Thailand.  This is where I saw them.

By the way, that's is me in the bottom photo.  Just trying those metal bands on was an experience itself.  There is just so much that you learn when you travel.  In this case, I learned more about the Long Neck Tribe than I knew I would experience. Those rings are VERY heavy, it's amazing that their neck could take it and more amazing that they don't suffer from claustrophobia or confinement. Would you like to go to Thailand?  I can arrange it for you, or bring your own group and I will escort it.

SHARING MY TRAVELS

GUESS WHO'S TRAVELED WITH ME THE MOST

That would be my friend, Mignon.  Some years back

she traveled with me to Paris, and to London, two separate trips.  Little did we know at
that time we would travel together so many times to come.  She hasn't stopped, nor have I.  And everytime I call,
she responds affirmatively.  I remember calling Mignon in
2003 and asking her if she was interested in traveling with me to Botswana, Africa.  She didn't hesitate to say yes. I was recovering from an accident and almost didn't make it, but as sore as I was, I went and she helped me 'maneuver' in my injured state, and we both had such a fantastic time.  Then, in 2005 Mignon was part of a group I arranged to China.  In 2006, she joined another group to Brazil with a fabulous group; we had soooooo much fun.  And in 2007, we were off to Italy with another group of 43 total, arranged with my good friend and agent, Francisca.  It doesn't stop there, in 2008 she traveled to Costa Rica on another group, and in early 2009, once again the adventurer she was, we flew off to Tanzania (Selous and Ruaha, quite a remote area), Africa. 2009 brought us together on one more trip before the year ended, to New England and in 2010, she will be traveling with me again to the Serengeti Plains of Tanzania, Africa. Wow, I think we only missed one year since 2003.  Way to Go, Mignon.  She is a loyal client and a trusted and great friend and we have had many wonderful, wonderful
travel experiences together.  Like me, Mignon has not let any grass grown under her feet.  I look forward to many more travels together.  Mignon, you deserve the award, and you will get it on
our next trip together.

MY BUSINESS:  I have been in the travel business for over
twenty years.  In that time I have traveled with some very loyal clients,  and  long time friends; made new friends and renewed friendships in that time. That is a huge compliment to me, one I don't take lightly, but one I treasure in my business.

There are many who have traveled with me over the past five
years, and most have traveled several times on several different trips.  I mention a few here.  Linda and Kate have traveled with
me to China, Costa Rica and New England and Linda accompanied me on a trip to the Cook Islands several years ago as well as an Alaskan cruise; Margo and Eloise traveled to London, Costa Rica
and New England and Eloise accompanied me on a trip to Curacao several years ago; Pat and Cynthia to South Africa and Kenya and we're planning more trips to Africa including Botswana; Cynthia is joining me on the upcoming Tanzania trip; Lorilie and Marsha to Tanzania twice, and Lorilie also traveled with me on a recent trip to Kenya and once again she will be on the upcoming trip to Tanzania and is considering South Africa and Australia/New Zealand as well.  The group going to Tanzania in May will consist of all repeat travelers, including my brother and his wife, and Lorilie's fiancé. Now if that isn't a huge compliment, I don't know what is.
Thank you again.

A HEARTY THANK YOU to all my clients and friends who have traveled with me, thank you for all the pleasure and tons of fun
and laughs you've given me on those trips.  I always look forward when I travel with my groups, and especially friends I have known for a long time and friends I have made on those trips. While travel may look seamless after a trip is all arranged and you're enjoying yourself and having fun, but travel is a lot of work, it's so much more than just booking a trip, but traveling with these special groups and friends make travel so worthwhile.

MAKING NEW FRIENDS WITH TRAVELERS:
Travel is an amazing adventure, to most anywhere. Your friendship base has expanded across the miles, to neighboring states or
states on the other side of the United States.  It is incredible how many new friends you make when you travel.  I have met many people that I have clicked with, gone to visit and remain friends with throughout the years, even traveled again with some.  The
old saying....The World is a Book, and those who do not travel read only one page (St. Augustine), was never truer.

In Kenya back in 2006 I met a wonderful friend, Eli, who had the organization WILDIZE (www.wildize.org

).  It was through her organization that I was able to start SHOES FOR SOULS, collecting new and used shoes to send to the rural areas of Africa.  (Unfortunately, I had to disband that program after a couple of years, due to DSL going out of business domestically). She remains a good friend today and I have visited her in Aspen.  In Tanzania, I had a roommate that I did not know, but she and I became good friends, she was so funny and in fact, she was also an avid birdwatcher.  Because of her, I was able to learn a lot more about birds and found it a wonderful experience.  She lives on Long Island and I have also visited her. Another friend I met on a South Africa trip and she and I share common interests and have communicated over the years.  I've not yet visited her, but I am planning a visit to Texas, hopefully in the near future.  In fact, I am hoping she will be joining me on my South Africa trip.  Another couple lives in NYC whom I met on the same trip and I have visited them.  Travel gives you the love of sharing and with each of those I have met I find that I have much in common and it's fun to share.  Of course, I have met numerous travel agent friends from everywhere and they have been an invaluable resource for me and remained incredible friends over the years.   That's what travel is all about.

Join me and make your own memories and friendships on an upcoming trip!

TWO AMAZING PHOTOS:
If you haven't been to my gallery to view all my safari adventures
to all parts of the world, why not browse them at your leisure:

I close out this edition of SafariTails with my infamous photo of

the Kenya Lion Pride and their favorite resting place.  What a joy this was!  It had not been seen prior to this and from my last
Kenya trip, this past November 2009, it has not been seen since.  Right Place, Right Time.  I'd say so. And a photo of a two-headed giraffe I took in Selous (Tanzania).  Mignon will remember Gyraffic Park, as it is affectionately known because there were sooooo many giraffe in the area, including this two-headed giraffe, or is it?????
